Hello my friends. In these days I'm going to start an ambitious project: to build a new GS1200 starting from new or refurbished parts I have in my own stock.
Here some photos of the steps.
http://img29.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=pict0046r.jpg
Some performances will be better than a standard GS1200. For example the steadiness value: in the service manual the max tolerance for the frame vertical movement is 2mm on a 50cm screen.
By my care the steadiness is 0,5/1mm...(measured by a SMPTE genuine test film)
The work is in progress, but I need two or three months to complete the machine.
This machine will be for sale, with one year warranty. The price will be high...Is there somebody interested?

Bye
Ugo

The 'new' Grassi Elmo GS sounds very interesting. I hope you will offer it to Forum members first. What might the price be? Perhaps around 2,000 Euro?

Hello dear Ugo. Could not resist to post some shots of this great machine that has just been delivered. Not used yet (so busy during the weekend). But I will do it soon. Thanks for giving me the possibility to use your own pictures.

Believe me, pals. This is incredibly nice. The color is simply fantastic. SO SHINING! I'm sure the performances will be too. Ugo, you are a magician!

Once more, Ugo, thank you so much.

Just to make clear... I am one person that would be very interested in a new/refurbished GS 1200 as you have described, Ugo. I will keep an eye on the forum for more details. My taste would be for shiny piano black covers against matt black chassis. Paint job very important!

Ugo,

May I ask why the cam assy is attached to a drill in one of your photos?

Thanks

Because I use the drill to polish like a mirror the tree. That's useful to achieve a better frame steadiness

Thanks

Ugo, if in the New Year you begin the 'remanufactured GS' project I am interested. Feel free to e-mail me. If a deposit were required to start, etc, let me know. The blue one looks stunning! A cosmetic finish like that and the upgrades inside you describe - very desirable. You have a customer for number 001! ( Or 002 if I'm not quick enough.)

Gian, will you write a little review of the blue xenon machine here, perhaps...
