I have a nice Bauer P7 but it has a problem with the feeding reel friction. It is too loose so the film "falls off" the reel. I opened it up but I can't seem to adjust the friction. Anyone has any advise on this?

There is no direct adjustment provided.
Start to solve the problem as following:
+ Remove reel-axle, (take care for small, thin washers)
+ Clean needle bearing with solvent and dry
+ check that needles and cage run smoothly, otherwise clean again,
+ grease needle bearing with high viscosity grease (Grade 3)
+ reassemble axle, washers and c-clip

Problem solved now?

Hi,

http://www.olafs-16mm-kino.de/bauer.htm offers a lot of free "Reparaturanleitungen" (Service manuals) as PDF... not sure whether they're in German or multi-lingual (German/French/English)...

Hope this helps,
Jörg

Thank you for your help. I fixed the problem eventually by removing the rewind belt altogether, so the projector cannot rewind but the feeding friction is fine now. Maybe not the most elegant solution, but I have a usable P7 again. That site with the manuals is a great resource btw.
Josef, would you know where I can get the Bauer grease for the grease tanks of my Bauers?

Thanks, Peter

the bronze cylinder get blocked after a few refilling and has to be replaced. Often wick strip from grease tank to cam is damaged or blocked as well and needs replacement.
And quite often black soft cover of grease tank falls apart in pieces.
Buying the white grease, only will not solve the problem. Further treatments are required.
If you send us grease tank together with leaf spring an wick as one unit you get a complete replacement unit back ready for installation. It contains freshly filled white BAUER-grease ( no old stored goods)
