does anyone use this projector. am i right in thinking its a 24fps only. and is it a two blade. if so how does it do re light output and flicker. any views/comments would be appreciated.

Paul, I don't own such a machine myself, si all I can say (following the manual wich is online but in French), the P8L is a 24 fps only projector and has a 18/24 fps version : the TS P8.

Pretty sure it does 24fps Paul.

But I think the universal professional is both possibly.

You can see the swithc with 18/24 in the side above or below the main switch. Or the 8L not one there usually.

I also have an P8L Universal.
Only 24fps, has a two-blade shutter, optical sound only.
It has its own internal speaker, the large side cover also contains two speakers.
The projector is finished in black and silver.

thank you Dominique and Mark. Maurice how is the two blade shutter. it must give more light output. how do you find it regards any flicker on screen being 2 bladed.

Flicker is not noticeable. Light output, even on low setting, is good. It has a zoom lens which probably does not pass so much light as a basic lens would do.
It's a great projector and is in a large transit type suitcase.

As a rule, a two blade shutter should never give flicker at 24 fps. However at 18 fps (so this machine is not involved), it is a problem. The darkest the film is, the less flicker you will see (a black part of the picture can look normal while a white part will not). It is said that at 18 fps the flicker is not noticeable if you project a big picture at a certain distance.

Hi Maurice does the P8L have a brushless asynchronus motor then, or just a fixed speed DC one out of interest ?

Mark, the spec says:- "Electronically controlled DC motor".
It's supplied with a zoom lens. Here's a pic.
