I have just got one of these a few days ago and managed to get it running ok (everything just needed freeing up) but it now has a problem. The first small black roller just where the film leaves the bottom of the gate keeps jumping up and down and making a noise, it does this with and without a film running through and when i press the threading lever on it stops, then i release it and it starts again.Anyone have any ideas ?

This is the auto loop re-former. I have no idea what is causing your problem.

That loop former roller is possibly out of its (very critical) alignment.
Without proper tools/jig/some experience, I don't think it's a job for average collector. [Frown]

Well thats odd, i tried it today and it was ok,i switched it off and on a few times in forward & reverse and there was no problems. But if it’s done it once it will probably do it again sooner or later. Thanks for the replies though.

Jason

Give it a test.

Run the motor (with no film). Gently touch the roller upwards. It should then immediately jerk downwards.

The whole idea is that if a lower loop is lost due to perhaps perforation damage, the film then rests against the roller. The roller will immediately jerk the film downwards, thus re-forming the lost loop.

If the projector has had little use and no recent servicing it's possible that there is some semi-dried grease.

Keep running and activating the loop resetting device, as the projector warms up it may ease the troublesome lubrication.
