Nothing unusual about this!
In the situation it was used before they obviously didn't want any reflections off the camera body.
I have seen this done before but usually people would use black tape.

In this seller's description of Jaws he states:
All the original cast members are now deceased including Peter Bentley the world famous producer.
Hmmm....I'm sure Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss would be a bit upset to hear about their demise. "Peter Bentley", producer? The novel was written by Peter Benchley, the producers were Zanuck & Brown. I was wondering who was writing most of the Wikipedia entries.....

A little confused re asking price, but what a nice story the seller tells on the listing. He obviously holds fond memories of his childhood and the film. Nice to read. [Cool]

Yeah, it is quite strange, and yet, it is SO RARE.

Lets watch this, in this crazy world, don't be suprised i it actually sells. I've seen crazier things.

The reason there are no bids yet for Star Wars is that its best to bid at the last minute. Im going to bid the asking price in the last 30 seconds so then I wont be outbid hopefully.

This is one cutdown missing from my collection.

Don't forget, this 200ft STAR WARS version has the 2 extra lines spoken by Obi-Wan that you'll need to put together a full condensed feature, so maybe the asking price isnt so crazy after all.

He used to watch the film with his neighbor, "Little Robert"? I wonder if he's related to "Little Richard"? [Smile]
That is so sad. I think that guy really believed he was sitting on a gold mine. His "financial situation" is forcing him to sell. Does that mean he wants large French Fries from McDonalds? That was a funny read!

I was surprised to see that of the two prints of Aliens listed at the same time on eBay, the Super-8 copy beat the 16mm copy by $55!

Here's a bit of a surprise:

Who knows where that came from...

To me this sounds like a bit of a bargain for 145 USD. But then again im not up with 35mm prices and some is cheaper than super 8 because prints go missing from the cinemas and get passed on to dealers.

Here's a strange one -
http://cgi.ebay. co.uk/2-8mm-films-39-Steps-Robert-Donat-Top-Hat-Fred-Astair_W0QQitemZ140184147340QQihZ004QQcategoryZ35064QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
When you read his "experience" with "film" his knowledge appears to be a little limited. Guage ??? Sound ?? "Top Hat" in color??? Seems a case of "Jack of all trades, master of none". [Confused]

This one has been on this post before, but it now has a revised price and description -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/super8-Colour-Sound-Dracula-A-Love-Story-Metal-Cans_W0QQitemZ250193271053QQihZ015QQcategoryZ35064QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Considering the seller states that he has "treasured this movie for years" he obviously hasn't watched it much. [Confused]
An "almost full length intact copy of the film", despite stating previously that it's only 35mins long, approx a 1/3rd of the movie and starring that well known animal impressionist, "Frank LAMBella".
An "immaculate copy" that is turning "rose pink with age" !!
"Grab a cushion and bite hard" !!
I think he must have hid behind the cushion when he watched "his treasured" version.
You have to laugh. [Big Grin]

Keith, I noticed this before as they have been trying to sell this for months. They did originally state it was almost full length. Either they genuinly dont know or they were trying to pull a fast one. At least they admit its going pink but this is probably the main reason they havent sold it, and the price, + no original box.

Any film I see listed as going pink or turning I stay completly away.
