Reads funny, to be sure. I do believe he means that he's not sure of the reason the sound is low; whether it's the fault of the projector or the film.

Eric,
I figured you had read what I read, but just in case someone else didn't... [Big Grin]

The wordings on EBay defy description: 'Reel-to-reel film' and 'film video' are just two past memories of Super-8 and 16mm listings. What to say?

Best,
Claus.

There's the classic:

"I don't know if this projector (or camera) works because I don't have any tapes"

Translation:

"RUN AWAY!!!!"

-unless of course they are selling something really spectacular for like 50 cents and there are no other bids because it's mis-classified.

My sister very often gets great bargains on E-bay just by searching for stuff using incorrect spellings.

How Rare is this. [Confused]

£200 buy it now for a single 400 foot reel seems massively steep to me.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/The-Song-Remains-The-Same-400-Super-8-colour-sound_W0QQitemZ300186383652QQihZ020QQcategoryZ35064QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Im interested to see how much this goes for if any.

Happy Christmas Graham

Funny how each and every one of us can stick our own label to a film as rare. What’s rare for one may not be for another perhaps and I have also fallen foul to believing one or two of my own films are rarer when in fact they are well circulated. Perhaps if you are a Zep fan this will prove irresistible and a must have. If George Formby was in it I would have given the start price, but there again I am a hardened Formby nut of some 30+ years.

Happy days.

Want an IB Technicolor dye-transfer Super 8 print? Wait no more:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130095997914

Strange thing is, that stunning collector's box and film reel looks exactly like the other ones I have that are faded to red.

(Seriously, does anyone know of the existence of any dye-transfer Super 8 prints? I don't think even the Techicolor Cartridge system had it THAT good!)

Bill you are correct, no such thing as Dye Imbibition printing in Super 8. The original theatrical releases were in Technicolor and I am sure this is where the confusion came in. I note it is being sold on behalf of someone else by an ebay assistant too.

On eBay there's an auction for a Bolex handgrip.
The price is already up to 282,- euro and still has 10 hours to go.
You can buy a complete H8 or H16 (including handgrip) for this price.

2 Walt Disney cartoons in 16mm for the bargain price of only $10,000 !

The same seller also offers a copy of Castle's "Riot On Ice" with A & C for a steal at $5,000.

You know, there are those lovely Ebay fees on unsold items... I hate to think what losing a $10,000 auction will cost him. (trying to suppress laughter with sympathy... not working)

Here's a lucky seller -- got $61 for the 200' Star Wars digest with somewhat faded color.

Mark,
The idea of that little lens-mounted sensor is quite nice, but in my head I was trying to run through all the (usual) possible shortcomings of such a device: shutter flicker, hot spots, and such. The resolution isn't much either.
But who knows.

Claus.

Claus,

Yes this seems like a brilliant idea but I wonder if it would actually work in practice the same as you do???
