Hello friends.
For unknown reasons, my Ebay account is blocked. My password is no longer valid and answers to my 'secret questions' aren't accepted. I have sent an email to customers service. Got an automated response saying that they would study my request, and asking me not to send another email as it might slow down procedure.

This is infuriating, I have objects pending payment, and some buyers are interested in some of my items I have for sale.

Any of you ever went through that kind of situation? Was it resolved? Please share your experience... Thanks.

Hi Jean-Marc

Yes I had a similar experience a couple of years ago when my account was hijacked courtesy of the wife replying to an email.

It took ebay about three days to rectify the problem, although I did not have any of my security details altered and no listings were placed on my account. As you have notified ebay about this problem they should automatically cancel any new listings placed on your selling account.

If you have not had this issue resolved by Monday, then ignore what they say and send them an email requesting that they contact active sellers & buyers that you are currently dealing with to let them know that you are experiencing some temporary problems.

If this problem is not rectified soon and you do receive any negative feedback due to buyers or sellers not being able to contact you, then ebay would normally remove these for you due to the circumstances.

As a precaution, please log on to paypal and as a matter of housekeeping and change your paypal password.

Good luck my friend.

Craig

Craig, many thanks for your support. As a matter of fact, checking into my Paypal account and change settings was my first reaction. It's good to know that it was the most sensible thing to do.

Last year someone hacked into my account and listed 50 Ferrari cars. Thankfully ebay were on the ball and sorted it out that day. Pay Pal is also un-secure and have had fun and games with them.

My advice is if you use the Internet for any money transactions keep a very close eye on it and your accounts.

I have a low opinion of everything which is advertised as being secure as usually this means it aint.

It's good practice to change your password every so often.

No, but it cost me a fortune in printer ink printing off the ads making ready for a possible legal issue with ebay.

What a caper... [Frown]

Interesting ...

I had my ebay account hijacked for just about 5 days, one day more and some jerk was going to sell a rather expensive motorcycle on my account. (Sorry Kevin, it wasn't your stolen motorbike.)

But my account was restored thankfully.

My account was hijacked too and it was for sale a nice Ducati motorcycle as well! I got an email from Ebay stating that this item was removed due to possible fraudulent activity. I checked and sure enough it was on my account. I changed the passwords and all has been well so far.

I'm not sure if this helps to block this kind of fraud, but I find it interesting that most attempted takeovers of accounts involve vehicles or motorbikes.

I ask the question to all forum members ... how many of us have had thier identity stolen in any way. I ask because there could be someone who at least "trolls" our forum for potential victims. It's just a thought.

Another thought. This delves into the personal and you folks out there don't have to answer.

I found that my hijacking directly coincided with my looking at a naughty ebay item. I wasn't interested with the auction per-se, but it did sport a nice shot of a magnificent ass, (hey, I'm an ass man, plain and simple).

When I clicked it, it took me off ebay and directly took me to some porn site. Since I don't look at that stuff anymore, I quickly got off it, as I hate all those porn pop-ups that are harder than hell to get rid of.

RIGHT after that, I lost access to not only my ebay, but my e-m ail. It took a week to clear it all up, and Ebay, since then, has done a good job of getting rid of the naughty links.

I got the same probelm too few days ago.

But my experience when answering the secret question (one of my correct answer of 2 was rejected too!), I was only right for the first question then click OK...strangely...it went OK.....funny huh!! And I chanegd the password now.

But please do own re-check, do you use the snipe service??? I do...and this possibility created the problem (perhaps Ebay server may curious to see the log in came from two far different IP??)

cheers,

Winbert, my issue is that none of my answers to the secret questions work!
What's surprising is that my account had been idle for two days (no bidding, just a few items awaiting an invoice to get paid, and no sniping either). And despite me liking lady's behind as well, I haven't clicked on anything suspicious for quite a while...

I'll wait until tomorrow and send another email to Ebay.
Thank you for your support, lads.

FYI, my account was finally restored this week. It took a month, many messages and a final email threatening to cancel my credit card in order to stop paying for my fees to get things back in working conditions. What a waste of energy.

I talked to friends who were less lucky. One had finally his account back after nearly six months. Another never recovered it and, even with several hundreds of positive feedbacks, he had to start all over again.
