I wanted to take the opportunity to express my condolences to our friends in Great Britain over the murder of soldier Lee Rigby.
I have a photograph of this fine young man saved to my desktop at work. He puts me in mind of my girlfriend's son, whom I love as if he were my very own boy.
I would have been proud to know Mr. Rigby. I believe that he and the other fine women and men of the British armed forces represent all that is good and noble and decent about the United Kingdom. And in a world like ours, seemingly slipping deeper into madness every day, those qualities are more important than ever.
The less said about Lee Rigby's savage murderers, the better.
The good people of Great Britain, as well as their leaders, are in my heart and in my prayers always, but especially at this sad moment.

That this kind of barbarism can happen in the UK, a peaceful and stunningly beautiful country, which in so many ways truly is one of the last bastions of civilized society, makes one dispair at the prospects of the human race.
