If you are interested in WWII airplane footage...check out this YOUTUBE video about 14-1/2 minutes long about an American pilot flying a recon spitfire in WWII. His gear could not deploy and he made a belly landing. No problem.

Years later, the descendants of the man who took 16mm footage of the plane landing assembled many films his father had sent home and among all the pictures was this one of the spitfire making a belly landing on grass. This was the end of a very long unarmed, unescorted recon run over Berlin. This descendant decided to make a documentary and eventually found the pilot of the spitfire who lives in California. The documentary "team" made contact with the pilot and interviewed the pilot who made reference to the guy who made the film. This old pilot then actually saw the film for the first time and asked if he could get a copy to show his family.

A very interesting video and there's a nice shot of a vintage 16mm projector [Smile]

Glad you guys liked it. I had just watched a documentary on The Battle of Britain where they also interviewed two fighter pilots who flew at that time. I believe the footage in the Spitfire Recon documentary took place after the Battle of Britain. These pilots were such skilled and brave men. We owe them much gratitude.
