I dont understand how sellers say the item has been shipped out or ebay indicates the item is shipped. When just a shipping label is created and not even dropped off with the carrier . I could just print out a label which ebay immediately indicates item is shipped and sit on my butt for a week then finally drop it off at post.ive had sellers do this and tracking just says electronic info received for 4 days then it finally get updated.

Brian
You have explained something that has also annoyed me. An item on Ebay is shown as shipped, and its date, but when the item finally arrives it's clear that its actual despatch was at a later date than shown.

And when you ask the seller has it shipped they get upset claim it shipped and give me a long excuse. Ebay needs to change this somehow. I avoid this by shipping promptly

The problem is not on ebay. Sometimes when a package is dropped off at the PO it is not scanned in. Thus still showing the package as not shipped only the label being printed. When you drop off a package make sure it is scanned in your presence and a printed receipt given to you. Then the buyer will see it as accepted at PO and you are off the hook. Another problem is the PO does not always scan it at the various locations it goes through so you will not see any progress when you check tracking. Recent updates to PO policy is supposed to make this more accurate by having only 1 type of tracking. meaning delivery confirmation and tracking are one and the same. However, it is still possible for a lazy shipper to print then wait before dropping off package. To me the only way to eliminate this is to print the label when you are actually going to drop it off as I do. Then when the buyer see it shipped they will be able to track it ASAP. bearing in mind that the PO only updates info once a day usually after 6PM.

Film from ebay said out for delivery but was never delivered. It finally arrived the next day.Ive had items say this and still be sitting in the post office.

Scheduled delivery is always way off, sometimes a day earlier or days later

Scheduled delivery is estimated by ebays shipping system and not the post office. It is an estimated that is based on several factors. For example, customers dropping off item, method of shipping, time received at PO, weather scanned in or not. Media mail is delivered depending on space left on truck. It's gets put on if there is room or it waits until the next truck. Ebays shipping systems sucks in plain english but the PO does a good job as far as I'm concerned.

Had the winning bid on ebay for 4 tubes. Paid by paypal on
the (9th) and faster than the speed of light ebay indicated the tubes were shipped on the (8th). Now that's fast. They arrived today.

I agree with you 100 percent Pasq, ebay tracking is awful. Its never up to date. I go to the exact ship carrier. Ebay should just give up and just use an external link.

Sorry to have so many gripes with shipping but I hate excessive packaging. Huge box for a small item. And Im not a big fan of peanut packaging as well there just plain messy.
