Hey everybody.

I have a classic 30's era film that is in desperate need for a film restoration (lots of scratches white marks ect on it), and I really don't have much of a budget. If there are freewares, I'll have to try them first, but if there are other good low cost programs for the PC out there, I'd love to know.

I thank you for your time.

Osi ... I've had very good results using the free Avisynth scripts with VirtualDub.

Here is a sample restoration I did on 16mm home movies from 1947.

I used scripts written by VideoFred downloaded from this link:

Janice ...

Does it allow for scratch repair as well as white speck repair, frame by frame?

What I'm going to work on is an early 30's film that the original negative material is not available, so I'm going to clean up the best copy that I have found of this film I like a lot.

Yes Osi... you can set parameters to adjust the amount of cleanup. If you haven't used Avisynth scripts and Vdub before...there is a bit of a learning curve...but the results are worth the effort. Good luck!
