Based on a previous thread debating whether or not we can truly match our local Multiplex in the home or surrounding areas. I would be really interested in finding out what size your permanent home cinema screen is and what format you use to project upon it?

To start things off, I use a modest 10ft 16:9 ratio electric screen that hangs permanently in its housed box at one end of my lounge. It is perfectly shaped for my HD Digital projector but should be masked really for my Super 8mm screenings be it in scope or flat.

It won't rival any multiplex I am afraid but I am certain some on here can get much closer.

Hi Andrew film 5 feet wide across the top, Blu Ray on an LCD projector 10 feet wide.

I think a lot of us Brits will be around the same.

We need to hear from the big boys Mark to rival our multiplexes.
That will surely come from our American and Australian forum friends.

Most of our homes would fit in their back yards! Lol.

Good topic Andrew,
I would be interested to see what other members have as well.

I have a 12ft scope screen fixed frame type with full HD 3D projector and Dolby Atmos 7.2.4.
The screen is also used for the films, which get more of a work out than the digital. [Big Grin]

2.35:1 screen that is 4ft high, so must be 9 - 10 ft wide. I can fill this width with Super8 scope but not height (except with Cineavision prints). a bit smaller with a DLP projector.

10ft wide 2.35:1 scope screen, with motorized masking for widescreen, and Academy ratios. This is a constant image height set up.

52" by 92" 16:9 rollup.

I decided to hang a screen inside the living room window and this size is perfectly framed by the curtains.

-our neighbors must wonder why we keep "drawing the shades"!

Hi guys,
I have an American Luma screen in my living room which is a 10ft manual screen which I have in constant use for my lcd projector and Sky. In my 2nd living room - which I call "The Den" - I have a slightly smaller 7ft motorised screen and this is also a permanent set-up. The room has another lcd projector which is linked to a blu-Ray player which is linked to my Yamaha sound processor with Full DTS HD 5.1 sound. But most importantly- the room is a permanent set up for my 8mm collection and at present one of my projectors - an eumig 824 Sonomatic is rigged up to my spondon long play unit - so that I can watch a movie - when I want to.

I don't have any scope prints so this old 4 x 3 Sony projection TV screen works great for me.

Great to see another Spondon Long Play user out there David. They really do work very well with nearly all of the double sprocket better projectors, in David's case, a Eumig.

It seems most of us find a 10ft wide screen more than adequate in our Home Cinemas. [Smile]

Hi Andrew,

I use my spondon unit constantly - as my eumig sits well in the middle of it. I also use it with my Elmo st180 - but I give it a rest when I use both my Elmo st1200's and my fumeo 9119.

It's taken me a while to collect the projectors and my film prints - but although I screen digital - I can never relinquish my super 8 - it possesses a magic all of its own.
