Did Universal 8 make 16mm digests called Universal 8? Does the 8 stand for 8mm guage? [Confused]

Thanks, Paul, I saw three Ebay auctions for 16mm Universal 8 digests (all by the same seller moore16mm), but was a bit confused about which gauge it really was. I wrote the seller asking two questions, one question was "is it in the original box" and the second question was "which guage is it, 16mm or 8mm". He replyed with an answer about the box, but not about the guage.

These 400ft 16mm extracts are the equiv of the 200 ft super 8 digests.
