Hi does anyone know what make and model is the best projector for 16mm films as i might like to collect some 16mm films aswell as my 8mm films
Any ideas guys?

I use a Elmo 16CL Xenon. It is not possible to get a Super 8 Xenon for a good price but 16mm is possible. The most important thing is you must buy a projector with a good lens.
I have a zoom lens, a 20mm lens and a 35mm lens and only the last one has a raser sharp focus like my Super 8 GS1200 1.0 lens.
A Friend of mine use a Eiki Xenon (it is also fine but I like my Elmo more).
The Best machine I know is a Bauer Selecton. But they are very expensive and for this value you get a Xenon machine like Elmo or Eiki.

Bell & Howell. The TQ1 model. Robust, and excellent if already serviced. Watch out for cracked worm gears, but great if not cracked or replaced!

If you are looking for Xenon - definitely go with either the Elmo or the Eiki (aka Elf) models.

If you want a regular halogen projector, try an Eiki SSL (also sold as the B&H 3500 series, aka Elf in the UK), Elmo 16-CL (also sold as the Kodak Ektographic), or Kodak Pageant.

I have to disagree on the older B&H machines (1500 and 2500 series in the US) -- I can't stand them. Those worm gears are a huge pain in the neck to fix.

Hello,

I am using a BAUER P8 PROFESSIONAL to play my 16mm prints. This machine is very reliable and there are nearly all replacement parts avialable, even today. Personally I do not recommend the Selecton series, because there are only a few replacement parts available for the Selecton series. The P8 PROFESSIONAL has been used in many, many schools here in Germany, as well as by the army and thus this machine can be purchased rather easily. The P8 Professional can play magnetic and optical sound and it does not make much noise.
