Is it just me, or is the Eumig S 932 supposed to be an 800ft capacity projector? The manual states to just move the takeup arm outwards and you can put a 800ft reel on it... No 800ft reel I have seen or own will fit on it = maximum of a 600ft. Did Eumig make a special take-up 800ft reel with a small hub so it will fit the projector? Any Eumig S 932 owners out there who can comment?

Hi David,
I have a Eumig 938 stereo, which is mechanically identical to the 932. Yes this projector does have 800ft spool capacity, if you use the correct spools. Elmo 800ft reels are too large for the Eumig, but the European Bonum and Posso 800ft reels fit just fine, they have a smaller hub and smaller outside diameter than the Elmo spools. They can be purchased from The Widescreen Center in London England.

Hi David, when trying to mount a 800ft spool, are you moving the take up spool holder back. It is designed to move back approx, 1/2 inch to allow this. I use an assortment of makes on mine.

Paul and Craig thanks for the replies. I did move the takeup arm back as far as it would go, but the metal reels I have (Goldberg and Taylor) do not fit nor does the Gepe 800ft plastic reels. I did come up with a Bonum 800ft and voila! This is one nice projector made even better now that I can project 800 footers. [Smile]

Hi David,
Yes the Eumig 932 thru 940 series are very nice projectors indeed- I love my 938 stereo. You may want to try and get hold of a nice f1.0 fixed focus or zoom projector lens, which will noticeably boost the brightness and sharpness of the projected picture. When fitted with such a lens, these projectors can hold their own against a GS120O, and with better sound quality too!

Paul

Agreed, the Eumig sound quality is simply amazing! Too bad Eumig didn't make a ton of these models before video killed the S-8mm home movie market...
