Suppose I have a 35mm film... a positive print that's ready to project. Is there someone who can make a super-8 copy of this film, also as a positive print, and how much can I expect this to cost me?
The 35mm film is not in scope; it's masked for 1.85:1 widescreen (each frame has black bars at the top and bottom). It has optical stereo sound and I would want the sound copied to twin magnetic stripes on the super-8 film.
Can this be done?
I know you're wondering why I'm asking this... well... someone's auctioning off the first reel of Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 35mm on eBay, which is basically the complete cartoon that the movie starts with. I want that cartoon. By itself.
(I know WFRR was released full-length on super-8, but I don't want the full feature... just the cartoon...)

Jan, technically speaking, nothing is impossible. But finding a lab that would agree to do so (ie - not caring about copyright infrigement) for just this one shot might prove difficult and, in the end, probably more expensive than buying the full S8 release... It might as well be more cost effective to buy a small portable second-hand 35mm projector. (Interesting posting/editing oddity here... Doug or Kev, could you please erase my previous post?)

I pretty much already knew the answer... Hmm, perhaps someday I'll be lucky and get to purchase the first reel of the super-8 print of the feature by itself. Thanks Jean-Marc
