Hi I have a very slight problem with my GS at the moment. It seems the speed changes when showing films from 24 frames per minute down to 18 I assume for a couple of minutes then changes back to the correct speed especially in musical sections played. I have found when this happens I have not control over the speed regulator control but have not tried switching the 18 to 24 flick switch. I have also noticed that when switching the light to low beam it seems to pick up slightly but not that much.

I have no problem with flicker or the film when being played. It works ok for the first hour of showing a film then picks up this problem

Can it be a problem with the timing belt? or something more server as i have never really had a problem with my machine i don't want to make the situation worse. But i have not used it for most of the summer.

I would be most grateful if anyone could help fix this minor problem as the last thing i'd want is to give it to someone who will destroy it or charge the earth for something which is minor.

I had this a few years ago. First blow (aero-duster can) any possible dust from the 18/24 switch. Activate it a few times as well. Also, do the same for the rotary speed control. I went inside the machine to squirt a small amount of switch lubricant (Maplins shop will stock)into the rotary speed control. Again, activate back and forth after spraying, then leave for a few minutes before trying.
If this doesn't sort things out, it could be the main motor. Mine was arcing/sparking excessively inside, and had to be rewound. I can supply detailing for the company who rewound it, but try those other things first. I am sure other forum members will suggest other things to try.

Hi Robert,

Yes this could be the motor but they do tend to do this all the time when they play up. There are a couple of diodes on the main board which can also cause this problem.
Move that speed switch a few dozen times as the contacts do get dirty with lack of use.

Robert Mail me privately as I also live in Essex and could take a look for you. [Smile]
