Out of nowhere, I got an idea concerning my Yashica, and I played with the film speed switch on the back, and wonders of wonders, the projector started working in forward motion, (something it didn't do before, for some strange reason)

YAY!

But then I noticed a little "knob" on the component board, and it turned out to be the one that allows the optical sound bulb to be turned up, hence, louder booming sound!!

I had always admired the sound on this projector, as well as how gentle it treated my films, no scratching at all. I was so heartbroken when it stopped functioning, and now it has been ressurected.

Double YAY!!

When I get the money OR when a bargain on one of those pop up, which could be anytime for, as we all know, most people do not know the value of thier projectors/collections, which works in our favor.

and with my 35 optical sound feature films, it would have to be the mag/optic sound ELMO.

However, alas, my foist love is the EUMIG!! (No better stereo!)

Try the GS Xenon with it's 30 + 30W feeding decent speakers and you might just change your mind. Even the std version is capable of some stunning results given good speakers and a well recorded soundtrack.

I agree that some machines on their own sound really good but I think this is down to the speakers built into them. Elmo have always recommended external speakers and sold quite a range tailored to the frequency response available from film. These speakers really make their machines sound as good as anything else. [Smile]

Osi, Good news on the Projector. Sounds like the dirty switch problem that we Elmo users get from time to time.
Be careful about pushing that brightness up too much on the optical lamp otherwise you will shorten its life. You should adjust the voltage so it's at the recommended for the lamp at the lamp terminals.

GS1200 Xenon with Elmo 1.0...great combo along with a 16-CL Xenon for that super bright white light.

I concur Kevin. While my Eumig sounds great even thru the mono speaker, she really shines when she is piped thru my stereo system, (and in the case of a Dolby surround sountrack, ala Alien or Star Wars ect.), complete with Dolby sound processor!

Yes but then any external amp will get the best out of any projector. You should hear John C's set up at both his home and the BFCC [Smile] The GS is mind blowing through his THX amp all be it in surround of course [Smile]
Yes a good amp can make all the differance. My point is though that the Elmos have got very good powerful built in amps but I wonder how many people try using them with decent speakers designed for the job as they can sound really wonderful and full bodied compared to the built in jobs which in some respects sound crappy.

True, but then I've never heard a single projector that sounds stunning with the available mono speaker in them. This becomes even more important with optical sound super 8, in my opinion, as those optical soundtracks can sound somewhat weak. Some optical sound super 8 projectors have little or almost no bottom to the playback. These are helped immeasurably by a
good sound processor with a graphic equalizer.
