Just recently, I recieved a print of the Disney 400ft release ...

"Mickey and his Pals"

... which consists of four of the classic "Mickey Donald and Goofy" cartoons of the 1930's. It's a nice collection with four minutes of the high-lights of those four cartoons, (plus a 30 second clip from "Hawaian Holiday').

I was stunned to get a print that has amazingly good colour, and it's an AGFA print from Buck film labs of one of these 400ft release.

Oh, by the way ...

Buy from Barry ... Buy from Barry - (shameless subliminal plug
for Independent 8).

My conclusion is ...

When I collect these Disney 400ft releases in the future, I won't even bother with these stateside (american) copies of these films, as it is so damned hard to actually get a good colour copy.

On the other hand, I will definitely stick with getting good buck film labs UK prints of these titles!

Most of the Bucks Film Labs Disney prints were on Fuji and as you say it's quite safe to still buy a UK print of these Disneys.

Similarly, the Walton Tom & Jerry's are also still looking good.

Quite a few of the UK labs of the time used either Fuji or later on Agfa stock.

Walton themselves used a lot of Fuji stock so yes a lot of the UK produced prints are still good compared to the US where Kodak obviously has a strong foot hold but then that is their home market where Europe was Agfa's.

Fuji was into undercutting the other suppliers in those days and had a very good product so they were able to get into labs in that way.

GS1200 Xenon with Elmo 1.0...great combo along with a 16-CL Xenon for that super bright white light.
