I've just bought a Super 8 Tom und Jerry "Das sensationellste Klavierkonzert" which is the Oscar winning 1947 release "The Cat Concerto".
This is a German print from Piccolo film/Film Office. All the MGM titles have been removed with the exception of the Oscar title, the MGM lion has gone and even the beloved end titles have been replaced with just a plain ENDE.
The rear of the box says "Wie wunschen Ihnen bei der Vorfuhrung dieses Filmes viel Vergnugen!" and "DIESER FILM DARF NICHT OFFENTLICH AUFGEFUHRT WERDEN!"
Having no knowledge of German (although I managed the main title!) I went to Babel Fish translation. What a lot of help that was.
The two translations came out as "We wunschen you with the Vorfuhrung of this film much Vergnugen" and "This film may not do offentlich aufgefuhrt."
Can any kind person please help with a proper translation?

"We wish you lots of pleasure when showing this film"
"This film cannot be shown commercially."

Maurice, could you tell us what the print is like as I have heard that some of the Tom & Jerry Film Office prints were very sharp indeed.

Thank you very much. I'll write this down and include it in the case.
Rob
This is a Piccolo print with its trademark on the opening, although in addtion to Piccolo on the box it includes Film Office.
The print is indeed very sharp, it's on 1979 Eastman stock so the colour's not too special, although there's not much colour in the film anyway. The piano is black, Tom is in tails, the background is white and the keyboard is black and white! Even Jerry is in tails to take a final bow.
Film Office prints are usually very good, I have some Astaire/Rogers prints which knock the spots off the poor old Mountain releases.
