I know that most of us have a strong interest in projectors; I was wondering if any of you have in your collection a Zoetrope?

For those of you who might not know what that is, it is a cylinder with slits in cut through the sides. There are drawings on the inside wall. When rotated, you peer in the slits to watch a brief animated cartoon sequence.

My kids were given a simple toy Zoetrope a year or two ago. Haven't seen it out of the closet since.

The projectors, however, have been out a number of times...

I would love to get hold of a Victorian Praxinoscope, they are great looking with all that wood and brass. But where can you get one?

I love those old optical toys, but I haven't got one in my collection. I hope one day I get hold of a Praxinoscope Theatre, but Thaumatropes, Zoetropes or Phenakistiscopes are also fine [Smile]

You can buy beautiful replicas ( see: http://users.telenet.be/thomasweynants/new-replica-optical.toys.html ) of these toys and they are affordable. The original ones however...
