Can anyone remember who realed the following 400ft's,they were all in oversized packaging to make them look like the popular 2 x 400ft double album releases of the time but were padded out with polystyrene!!

THE GODFATHER OF HARLEM AKA BLACK CEASAR-FRED WILLIAMSON-Very well edited,Derann sold these in there bargain bin sans packaging for 2 quid each many years ago.

HORROR EXPRESS-CHRISTOPHER LEE/PETER CUSHING

FROM AFRICA WITH LOVE-Wildlife documentary

I think this outfit also released that 70's sexplotation spoof ESKIMO NELL but in regular cardboard packaging.

Any ideas Guys????

I'd like to know who did Horror Express as well, as it's one of the few desired prints I'd still like to find a good copy of!

Why a distributor/Lab made like this back in the 8mm era?... If they knew that AGFA was better than Eastman, didn't they just print on AGFA.

Do you think there was a consideration that if they printed on Eastman than they could get sort of a tax benefit when selling them in USA (due to the contain of US product)?

cheers,

Hi Winbert!
two years ago i have the pleasure to meet the owner of the film company "visiones marbiscolor",after hours of talking about his company and the titles released by them he told me that was usually to print almost all the features on kodak because was more cheaper in that days and they only make print on agfa when the labs dont have any kodak stock to print, today he complaint that because they dont have any idea in that era that agfa stock will hold the colours so well in the future...i ask him if he have any prints from that era he told me to my surprise that he has a giant room with all the films that not sell when they closed...my heart almost exploded!! is the collector dream!! a giant room full of prints never used wooowow, but sadly for mew he told too that in 1997 the room suffers from water damage and almost all the prints may can be ruined today....i told him i want see the room anyway because maybe some prints may still in good condition,we go the next day to the place and...my heart cry a lot.near three hundred films ruined [Frown] just the cases and boxes was ok more or less but then when i think everithing was ruined forever i see it...upside me completely as new with others fifty film there was a print of HORROR EXPRESS,COUNTESS DRACULA and all the weissmuller films of tarzan.I almost cry friends [Roll Eyes] i ended buying all the prints of tarzan, the only one of horror express and some of the chapters of u.fo....FADE TO BLACK AND THE END [Big Grin]

Jose,

Could you please e-mail me, as the forum service won't allow me to e-mail you. If I can get ahold of this person who had the "Horror Express" prints, I'd be a most happy camper!
My e-mail address is:

toac2001 at hotmail dot com

thanks

OSI

Osi. I think it would be wise to "disguise" your e-mail address i.e - "at", "dot"com etc, just to prevent scammers getting hold of it.
Regards,
Keith

Just sorted it for him Keith.

Maybe Osi wants a load of spam. I have said this so many times on the forum about putting your email address on display in it's normal form as there is software that can scan for email addresses.

Kevin, I tried to send Jose an e-mail thru the service provided by the forum, but it wouldn't let the e-mail go thru, and since Jose did not have his e-mail address listed, I didn't think there was anyway to keep from doing that.

I bought "Horror Express" from a German collector a couple of years back. It is on 4 X 600ft reels in those crystal cases with nice artwork. He stated that it was faded but I wanted it because it is such a great horror film and Telly Savalas is one of my favourite actors and you don't see that many horror films with him in them. The print has faded to about the same condition as all the U8 color prints of "Doctor Cyclops", a sort of sepiatone. Still it's a great film and we enjoy watching it.

HORROR EXPRESS is a great little horror movie. Bit of a gem. There must be 16mm prints of this about.

According to IMDB its plot keywords are: railway station, brain, cossack, murder and microscope. Brilliant! And exactly all the things I remember from seeing it.

Jose,

Blimey thats a real horror story in itself,I think the american version of EXPRESS was released by either Niles or Canterbury,as they released Jess Franco's CASTLE OF FU MAMCHU at the same time, its was complete 5 x 400ft.

Cheers Mark W

I have seen various releases for "Horror Express" on super 8. I know that Hollywood Film Exchange released the full lengnth feature on super 8 in the 70's, but I didn't know about the digest.

I am even MORE surprised to find out that "Black Ceasar", starring Fred Williamson, was released on super 8, and as an edited digest for that matter. This was a classic blaxploitation movie in the 70's, and actually inspired a sequel ("Hell Up In Harlem"). Both movies were above average compared with other movies in the same catagory.

Not many of these movies ever made their way to super 8. This was from the era of "Coffy", staring Pam Grier, which did make it onto super 8 via Ken Films, as a great 200 foot and 400 foot color/sound digests.

Jose- do you know if any more prints of "Black Ceasar" exsist, or were they all destroyed from the water damage? [Frown] .

James.

Hi James!
Sadly all the prints was completely damaged in the case of this dealer, anyway i have to meet again with this person in a few days because im in a hunting for a good condition second hand print for a member of this forum, this dealer keeps some address of people that buy from him in that days and maybe they dont want super 8 anymore today so maybe i can find good prints of some films, this dealer told me yesterday that he keep some films from the label "films 77" because he was the owner of that label too back in that days, so i hope to find good second hand prints or almost new in his store.ill keep all forum members informed if something interested is found,i feel like indiana jones nad the search of the lost stored films!! Returning to the original question, I have the 400' version of 'Horror Express' in the packaging as described, and the front of the box says "Normak presents...". Anyone know anything about this company? The box does not say anything else about them, but the leader of the film indicates Buck Film Labs in the UK.

How is the color on that print Adrian, as I know that Buck Film Lab prints tend to hold up very well, from what I've seen.

Adrian,

Many thanx,Normac must be the UK distributor of these titles then,I think they slso released some soft porn titles such as THE JOY OF LETTING GO etc.

Only a 400FT of GODFATHER OF HARLEM was released, which is a real shame as it deserved a longer version, the 400ft was very well edited though,so its worth tracking down,my US print of COFFY still has superb colour!!

One more question: Was the COUNTESS DRACULA print you saw the old Derann print or was this also released in Spain full length? I would be interested in buying it even if it's just the boxes if he would consider selling it. It's one of my favorite films. Thanks for any info...
