I took part to this auction... but the final price is, in my opinion, absolutely high! [Confused]

http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110395534973

The Winner, if not from Norway, has to pay also import duties..

Unbelievable... [Embarrassed]

Yes it is considering the one previous had the original box, all accessories, came with a working guarantee, had 2 of the best lenses for the machine and was sold from a reputable seller.
I have seen too many "wonky" GS1200's to take one for the team!
Good for the seller..may not be too good for the buyer.
Hang in there...one will come your way at a good price. They always do! When I was looking for one I looked hard for 2 years, and then I was offered 3 all at once! At a much better price than $3900!!

Generally the Xenon versions tend to hold their prices quite well especially as they were not sold in the same numbers as the Std machine.

I paid £2000 plus about 5 yrs ago for mine and again it was in its box with all original accessories. It had hardly been used as it was the second of 2 shop demo machines and was the least used of the pair.

For me it's good to see that decent specimens are still holding their price well.

If you see them going very cheap then its worth asking what they were used for. The Xenon was designed for large audience use and they may have been flogged to death showing movies in some porn cinema 24hs a day. This would then lead to short lamp life and even difficult lamp striking as well as general wear in the plastic guides. The lamps are expensive to replace.

Kev.

Funny thing Kev should mention GS1200'S being used in Porn theaters. My first GS which I purchased off ebay was in terrible condition when I got it. It was absolutely filthy inside and there was gunk everywhere. I concluded that the projector had experienced very heavy useage in an extreme smoking environment, and I would bet that it had been used in a porn theater. After much cleaning and TLC and replacement of a few parts, this projector now runs very well - which says a lot for the durability of these machines.

Thanks for your suggestion... Is in Australia the the voltage 220 Volt and 50 Hz like in Europe?

Hi Flavio
here is 240v 50 hz.

I am seriously loking at this particular Elmo GS.
It looks good & the lamp strikes ok, but it hasn't been tested with film at all & we don't know if the sound even works at all.
I expect it is Ok but its a bit of a chance without actually confirming that it plays films OK.
What do you think would be a cheap price to get it for?
$1200 sounds reasonable to me.
He doesn't have a buy now option on it.

Hi Frank,

the price of 1200 aud is very good, but I'm sure the final price will be higher...

I'm quiet sure I cannot use here in Italy if the voltage is not exactly 220 volt. If it is designed to operate at 240 volt it is under fed with 220 volt only and I'm not sure it works properly. So I think I will renounce to it...

Good luck for your bidding!

Flavio
