Hello,

This is probably not the right place for this enquiry but....

Does anyone recall a UK television programme from the 1970s starring the cruelly under-rated actor Derek Griffiths in which he ran a cinema?

He played all of the cinema staff: the 'commissionaire' on the door, the uptight house manager, the projectionist, the usherette (complete with fake breasts and foundation make-up over his/her moustache) plus sundry other staff members and possibly a few cinema patrons. I do not think anyone else appeared in the show.

Once the staff got their act together I think they screened a few cartoons each week.

The projectionist was useless, always distracted and he was constantly yelled at to "Get on with it!"

Anyone remember this children's programme? What was it called? Any clips on Youtube?

Cheers.

I didn`t realise he had died, how sad.

He always seemed very talented and natural to me, and likeable on screen.

Best Mark.

I don't think he is dead, Mark. I might be wrong of course.

'Died' as in stopped breathing or as in forgot his lines on stage?

Griffiths does mainly theatre work today and kids' programme voice-overs. He may be prone to the odd memory lapse nowadays but I think he is definitely alive and kicking, just a bit grey and without the 'tache.
