I keep looking for some 8mm film to use with this camera but come up with simply video cassette tapes to play in camcorders. Does anyone have an idea where I can find raw film and how much it would run me? How much would developing the film cost?

My camera is the wonderfully hand cranked Bell and Howell Director Series Zoomatic (Same model used by Abraham Zapruder during the Kennedy Assassination, eerie, eh?).

Standard 8mm Film can be ordered from Yale Film.

You can also try Spectra Film & Video.

Hey Doug! thank you for that link. Quick question: My camera seems to have blown a fuse of sorts when I was trying it out, which is weird because it's hand cranked (although maybe it's not TOO weird haha, I'm just a newb on these sorts of things). It sort of let out a scream and now when I try to hand crank it, there's no sign letting me know it's fully winded up. What do you think that could mean? I'm a little worried it's done for good [Frown]

ETA: trying to open the panel within the camera, it's located where the film reels go, it seems one nail is stuck so I can't even see where the gears are [Frown]

ETA2: Doug I think I'm going to leave this one up to you. I've tried looking at what happen and it seems that I might have accidently hit reverse while I was recording but I have no way of knowing unless I open that screw. It had a bad smell, like something was burning so I think I might have messed it up permanently. I've scuffed it up some and it's giving me trouble so you're my only hope.

Sounds as if the main spring broke. The "scream" was it unwinding. I assume that is a major repair job. It is probably is similar to a clock spring.

Mhm, well that's unfortunate. Seeing as I don't have the funds to get parts for something that rare, I'll just have to buy a new one and hopefully I won't break this one! Ugh, I'm so mad at myself, it's so unfortunate too, I was really excited about using it [Frown]
