Robert,
I have old catalog listings for the "One Million Years B.C.", "Seventh Voyage Of Sinbad", "Valley of Gwangi" and "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger" trailers. They're out there somewhere! Reel Images (back in 1978) released a "Stop Motion Magic Combination Reel" that included "Dinosaurus!", "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" and Harryhausen's Gwangi, 7th Voyage, and Eye of the Tiger.

Derann released a fairly short re-release trl to Jason, but it's probably no longer available. However, more recently, CHC released a nice trl to Mysterious Island which may well still be available.
I've got the (400') Stop Motion trl reel mentioned by Doug, although I think mine was printed by LA Films in the 1980s. There was a Stop Motion trls 2 that followed it (something like 250') but I can't remember what's on it.
There's also a 'Golden Voyage of Sinbad' promo (150') with behind the scenes shots that was put out by Canterbury. I have a trl to 'Seventh Voyage' (possibly Canterbury) that is significantlt different to the one on the Stop Motion reel. Don't go for the One Million trl that's on a Walton trl reel, as it's much shorter than the one released individually by Canterbury.
I wonder if i could borrow your Stop Motion trl reel and trailer? The reason for this is i will be starting a cinema event in Bristol in October this year and will be having the great man himself down especially for the show which will be part of the film festival.
We will be screening The First Men on the Moon and Jason & the Argonauts full length on Super 8. But i am still trying to find suitable film material trailers or promo's to the films that have been released only on Super 8.
If you or Douglas can be of any help in lending your prints for this one off event i would be most grateful.

Just an interesting side bar: I recently got to have a chat with Ray Harryhausen (whose films I adore)and told him I collect his work on super 8. His response was, "Why do you bother with super 8? All those prints have bad faded color and you should stick with the remastered DVD's." Rather than go on a super 8 rant I just politely smiled... The old Master can't be right about everything!

I've said it before and I'll say it again!
Collect music on 78s and you'll never hear about CDs. Drive down the street in a '57 Chevy and nobody will tell you how the new Hundai gets great mileage and is much safer.
-but put a reel of film on a projector and you're going to be swamped by all these generous folks trying to make sales for the consumer electronics industry without expecting commisions!
How much simpler can it get? It's simply more fun! These wonders of modern video are super easy to use and so inscrutable that you'd never pry one open to fix it, just toss it out and buy one twice as good in the next format. This is not a hobby in the sense that owning a Hundai does not really make you a car collector. The challenge and satisfaction of getting hands-on just isn't there.
So what of Hundais and DVDs then? Simply this: I'd have to be absolutely crazy to commute to work year round in a '57 Chevy, and just the same when I feel like a lazy evening on the couch watching a flick there is no shame in slipping a disc into whichever anonymous black box is cabled up to the TV rather than process six reels through my projectors.
But speaking as a guy who drives a stick-shift car, ease of usage doesn't always translate to "better".
(Ooops! Was that the rant you were talking about?)

Thanks for saying it again, Steve! Well put.
Brian, I'm quite jealous. I'd love to meet Mr. H. and get him to sign his excellent book "An Animated Life".
Rob, sorry but I was just mentioning what's out there. If I had them, I'd absolutely lend them out...or invite myself to the event! Exactly when in October does this take place?

Doh. He better get his behind down to my place and sit through a showing of my Derann print of 7th Voyage of Sinbad, then. Not even a hint of fade, there.

Hi Rob, I'll see if I can assist - I'll send you a PM sometime, or feel free to send me one. Does RH know that those features you'll be showing are on Super 8? Sounds like he might be in for a surprise when he sees them, if he expects faded prints! I recall 'First Men' looking very good when I saw an extract at a BFCC, back when it was released. Adrian

Dear Robert,
I have a copy of "Clash Of The Titans" Trl., it's a little Pinky though I'm only looking for £6 plus £1.20p post. If you want to look for yourself then go to the BFCC SITE and follow the link to the Independent 8 pages, and go from there.

Hi Barry if you can treat that trailer Clash of the Titans as being sold to me. If you have or find anything else please let me know. Thank you very much!

We did a show at Elstree studios a few years ago at which George Lucas was slated to be the guest of honour. Something to do with an anniversary of Star Wars or such like. Anyway, unsurprisingly Lucas didn't make it and in his place was Ray Harryhausen. We showed clips from great Elstree films, all of which were on Super 8. As I recall he, and everyone else, was amazed at the quality provided by that tiny 8mm frame. I think it was the 'Scope extract from 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' that really blew them away on a 16ft screen.
Perhaps Ray Harryhausen has forgotten that evening.
Nicholas Parsons in particular was enthusing incredulously over the picture quality and proclaimed that he was going to retrieve all his old cine equipment from his loft just to check the quality he had achieved all those years ago.
