The two belts have perished and having trouble finding new ones. Can not find the manual to find there item numbers. My model has the brownish belt that go's just between two wheels, I believe that the belt may had teeth for better grip

Hi Will
I have been emailing them they do not have the brown drive belt and are not certain what I am talking about,there is a one that fits a machine that has a middle wheel, there do say it will work in my machine. I would just like some one else to confirm this. Can upload images of the machine if that helps

The brown ones you refer to (and some are black) stretch out of shape, and turn to goo as well, almost melting in some cases...I have changed all of these on my 4 elmo machines and on the st-180 which i have. You can safely order from here what you need. A few of us use this chap with no issues whatsoever:

Little help please I have put the new belts on and the belts will turn by hand but can not get the motor to drive them

Hi Jeff,
Glad to hear the belts came in fast and safe!
Here is a snapshot of the elmo with the belts on for a guide. This is how it should look. The motor belt needs to be on properly to turn this, make sure it is on the pulleys correctly. I take off that big flywheel in pic at bottom left so you have access to lower motor pulley else, it would be very very tricky if not impossible to do otherwise. Just remember order of how you take off . It is easy to do-be confident!

Yes if in doubt, and if your camera/phone can take videos make one of the removal to remind you of the order in which you did it.

Hi Matt What I am finding is when I turn the machine on , where the small belt is what looks like a mental fan moves ever so slightly but nothing else. The machine I have doe's not have the centre plastic wheel like yours

It sounds like you may have the same model as me, the st 180E? There are a few different 'flavours' of elmos out there and the one pictured above is from forum member van-eck's site, another variant I guess.
At any rate, here is a pic of my own:

Be careful when turning this machines on with the cover off because of the capacitor etc...but, when on in forward or reverse, do you see the bottom motor pulley spinning(labelled 'A' in pic). With the belt properly put on this pulley as pictured, it will drive the top pulley(B), etc... The bottom pulley should move when in forward...
Let's make sure your motor is working first [Smile] If it turns out to be motor or electrical, I am not an expert there unfortunately, but someone else may be able to help...

Hi Jeff,
Sorry I don't know much about electrical or motors. Luckily, I have never had a seized motor before, but I know some have experienced it.
Reading some other fixes, it seems you want to loosen that motor spindle and bearings with some lubricating oil, a few drops with the machine in such a way that the oil will get down the shaft into the motor....I hope someone can elaborate, but with oil and turning the shaft by hand, I have heard some success stories on getting it to go.
IT is very RARE for it to be a seized motor i believe though, but may as well rule it out, it can't hurt...

Hi Matt
By chance I have found a chap in my home town that repairs all types of projectors. The problem was because my machine had not been used that much the bushes had got out of line, one was working while the other did not nothing. Simply job

That is great Jeff that it is working again!

I am unsure what he fixed however? I am trying to figure out 'bushes'? Even Bushings (if that is what is meant) is not familiar to me on these.
Perhaps you can ask him exactly what he fixed so we can all rest assured? Thanx! Enjoy the great little projector! With new belts, new bulb, and some TLC, you should have lots of great viewing fun with it.

Hi Matt How it was explain to me, our machines can run on 240 or 110 volts so it needs brushes to help the armature do this when in my case it has not been used for years dirt can built up on one of the brushes so not getting contact. With your manual is it in different languages as the site you sent me to you can download one but the first part is in German so I stop the download.
The only one big problem now is finding where we have hidden the films

Okay, yes, this makes sense to me now! Glad they were able to get you going.

I looked last night and found that i do indeed have the instruction manual for the st180E, but not a service manual.

Nice Maurice! I have utmost respect for people who can make these parts. Seriously.
Look at the precision needed to wrap the armature wires in the motors. Incredible. This little cleaning you've gotten done should allow your elmo to last a nice long while yet Jeff!
