Hi Moe

The Sankyo Deluxe 1000H is a Dual projector, and the R stands
for Regular or Standard 8

Shalom Moshe...

The R knob is for rewinding. It activates a positive lock when rewinding reels so they don't slip when heavy and getting full of film. Only pull out the R knob when you have finished the film and are rewinding overhead, reel to reel.

I can send you a manual for the 1000h if you email me.
