Can this be for real? I had no idea this title (Day of the Triffids) could go for this much on Ebay. I bought a scope print myself recently for around 60 pounds... this new auction states that the film wasn't even checked for quality?! It's amazing what can happen when a bidding war begins...

Incredible - although perhaps it's a bargain when we are seeing 200' silent versions of films being sold for up to about £90! Just as well that the seller is willing to accept returns, as a Mountain release that hasn't been screened for years could be either perfect colour or pink Eastman!

£410!!!! Don't get me wrong I love this Triffid film (so good its even mentioned in the opening song of Rocky Horror.." And I really got hot when I saw Janette Scott fight a triffid that spits poison and kills") but £410 for it..no way, hell you could get a full feature like Star Wars etc for that. I have just bought the mountain 4x400 of Day of the Triffids, super 8 b/w sound and cost just £27, I don't think nearly £400 more for the addition of colour is worth it.

I HAD THE RARE FULL COLOUR VERSION OF THIS FILM I.E 6X400FT
COST ME £170 I AM SORRY THAT I SOLD IT TO A DEALER
BUT THIS ONE ON EBAY DID HAVE NICE BOXES ?

I think someone is going to be dissapointed!!!!!
The quality of this this release was ok but certainly nothing compared to later releases, what a price, wow [Eek!]

Has anyone noticed since Derann closed how many 8mm films are appearing on ebay and how much there getting?

Regarding Tom's question, I think it's a psycological shift that has boosted the value of Derann releases, and particularly features. The sad end of Derann - and the destruction of all their negatives - makes it explicitly clear that no one can ever order another new print, so the only way you can obtain the film is to buy it from someone else. That doesn't explain non-Derann reeleases being sold for crazy amounts, though.

It's interesting that a collector I know was approached by a dealer at Blackpool, who asked if he had any films he would like to sell, as he could now offer higher prices than would have applied something like 6 months ago.

i just wonder if it is panic buying by some collectors who
in the past bought there films from the derann sales list
and if so prices will drop back to normal after a while ? [Big Grin]
