I have a Noris 810 standard 8mm projector ( similar in design to the later Noris Super 8 silent projectors).
It a projects a steady picture but after 200-300 ft the picture will start to jitter, and then the projector will loose its bottom loop at the aperture gate.
The outreach of the intermittant claw seems to be sufficient...I can manually advance the film with the inching knob with no problems.
It seems that the heat build up in the machine under constant operation is causing the problem. I lubricated all internal friction points as well as the sprockets...to no avail. Any thoughts or ideas?
My suspicion is the main drive belt (flat rubber type) is slipping ...causing the irregular film transport .

Hi Thomas

re your quote,

"The outreach of the intermittant claw seems to be sufficient...I can manually advance the film with the inching knob with no problems."

Just because you can advance the film manually doesn't guarantee that the claw outreach is sufficient to prevent problems at projection speed. It may require more penetration to ensure it doesn't loose its lower loop when going at running speed.

If you adjust the claw, check that it retreats below the aperture plate level when its moving up for another frame grab. This is vital to prevent films getting scratched by the moving claw. Grease the intermittant cam track to be sure the claw peg is sliding freely and oil the claw pivot.

Good luck with it as these can produce a very good picture and are a fine machine.
