Hello everyone,

I very recently purchased a Imac Supersound8 from ebay for £7.50 and the only reason they had such a low start price was because the auto threading mechanism no longer works apparently.

I was wondering if it was possible to either repair this somehow or if the projector itself can be converted to take manual threading?

Many thanks!
Ben

Hi Benjamin, welcome aboard.

Just to "clear the deck", are you sure the autoload isn't working or could it be because the leader of the film isn't trimmed in the right way?

Some autos like a slanted-angle cut, my Elmos have a half-moon curve to the tip of the leader....it's just an observation; maybe they didn't know. Does the machine have a cutter with it?

Claus.

Also, the first foot or so of film should not have any kinks or bends in it.

Okay, after looking at the projector:
-When it's switched on, it hums
-When the switch is moved to M, it makes the same sound and when trying to thread film into the project, it doesn't go anywhere. Literally, the film refuses to go in.

Any suggestions?
