Just back from a wonderful weekend in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey at the Cinesea meeting....great old friends and new ones this time, gathering to sell, buy, swap and talk film. Never have so many projectors been running simultaneously in one room in history.
We had one fellow drive three days from Texas to come to the meeting...another came all the way from Iceland! He felt right at home since it was a bit chilly this time...good for the films, though. Looking forward to the next Cinesea, which I understand will be sometime in early May..date to be announced. Thanks to Doug and Lou for again putting on a great weekend.

Couldn't agree more!

Gary and I drove up and back together and we had a blast with music, radio shows and general "get lost in time" stuff.

Wildwood was, as usual, just right. All the fun, trivia and madness concentrated in two sunny days with lots of films being run and an excellent dinner at the Boathouse on Saturday night...combine with walks on the beach and life is good [Smile]

We have video footage and stills that need to be sorted and worked on; I will try to get my "slide show" together as fast as I can, given that my main editing PC is down right now.

Bottom line: we had a great time.

Claus.

Glad to hear about the great weekend in NJ!

I'm putting in my leave slip at work as soon as I hear the next date, hopefully in May 2013.

James.

Dino,
We look forward to you coming back with your 9.5 presentations.
Now that it seems the Sea Theatre is gone, the memories of that night are truly poignant.
Kevin, thanks; my desktop PC dying has left me temporarily working off my wife's laptop, so I will see what I can do.

Claus.

This CineSea was so much fun. It was wonderful to meet Guy Taylor, who made the trip from Galveston, Texas. I picked up digests from Guy that I had been after for a long time. Also traveling a great distance was Paul Oscar, who journeyed from Reykjavík, where he is a popular singer/songwriter. I'm sure Paul needed another suitcase for the trip back, considering the amount of Super 8mm films he had by the convention's end.

Many of the CineSea attendees were longtime regulars, giving a sort of family reunion feeling to the event. Speaking of family, Steve Klare brought his son Steven, who really enjoys this hobby. Lou Franchetti's son has been to every CineSea and he's desperately needed, since Lou fills up multiple tables with 16mm & 8mm prints.

The evening screening went till 1 AM and included Derann's This Is Scope, the recent scope release of Godzillas Todespranke (the German trailer for Yongary), a beautiful 16mm print of Hyde and Hare, dozens of trailers, a very funny episode of Jay Ward's Fractured Flickers and our own Lee Mannering's Cinema in Minature, which was very well received. I have to thank the kind audience for forgiving my mistake in placing the screen in the wrong position, which resulted in the scope part of the program extending off the sides of the screen! That was pretty embarrassing.

I shot some video of the event as did Claus, who also took stills. Steve Klare shot some Super 8mm. Hopefully we'll coordinate all the footage and be able to post it soon.

Lou is working with the Ocean Holiday to lock in a date for CineSea 7. It will be in early May and as soon as it's set we'll make the announcement. I think the next one will be the best yet. John Black would be proud.

Doug

Yes, it was a great time!

Steven really must have enjoyed himself: I don't think I've ever seen him so long without his I-pod or Nintendo DS since he got them!

I did something I haven't done in almost two years: I shot a couple of cartridges of Super-8, even after I predicted I might never do it again. I'm going to do what I've often done when I find myself half a cartridge short: make titles!
