I'm sorry but, this dismays and somewhat annoys me. Osi Osgood tells us he has no spare reels. He also told us that he received a few prints on cores from Fred Willders - it turns out Fred says he sent them to Osi on Elmo reels. Osi then told us that the Elmo reels he did receive from Fred Willders got damaged in the mail. Yet, he now has 12 Elmo reels for auction on ebay.
I guess it's pure coincidence.

I thought I'd wait until, yep, Micheal (probably Micheal) would bring it up.

I am selling (for the moment) 20 ELMO 1200ft Metal reels for a lady who's husband (who's deceased) used to collect film and this is just about the last of her husbands film collection stuff that she has. I sold some of his films a few years ago and she still had my address. She's a nice "elderly" lady, very old school, she writes ... yes, actual letters. Quite refreshing actually.

She states that she has another 30 or so 1200, 800ft and 600ft reels, but they're not all ELMO and not all metal, so I thought I'd start with the great ones first, and wait until these sell.

and my profit is an already agreed upon 5.00 dollars per reel.

That's All Folks!!!!

Michael, I think this is entirely Osi - Fred's business. It has nothing to with us. For 20 reels at the same time, Fred will obviously find this selling modus easily should they were his reels. Let people do his own business and we get back to film discussions. Can we?

This is why I didn't even bother to list the reels first off on here in the first place.

This has nothing to do with Fred K, period, this is another whole person ...a lady that I have been working with for over five months, (through letters) to secure selling them.

It's as simple as that. If anyone wants to make this into some moronic "reel-gate" ... they can.

If ya wants the reels, buys the reels.

end of discussion.

I'm not looking to engage in this "gate" but I do love the Pistols so.....

It just seems strange that if you had been communicating with this sweet old lady for over 5 months about selling these reels, that you went to all this trouble with the GWTW feature and the platter on a plank nonsense, and the almost inevitable damage to that print. Wouldn't it have been more ethical if you knew that you would be receiving all these reels soon to sell the film on reels as is the usually accepted way with Super 8 features? And I still don't understand how you can have photos on your current ebay listings and produce wonderful videos on YouTube, but you feel the need to procure screenshots from another forum member to sell your print. It all seems so "dodgy" to use the vernacular.

There are still 16 for sale, but starting at $40 each is steep.

At long last that poor GWTW print can have its reels again, if the buyer were willing to spend that much...

I never did bother to reply to Paul, so here goes ...

I was actually working on getting these reels from the lady before I started re-selling for Fred. She's just a very slow going person, but that's her own right. It's too bad that I couldn't have been selling those reels at an earlier time. There's no way I could personally fore-see the whole GWTW debacle with those reels.

However, there are always those jerks out there that, lets say, I didn't get these reels from her until 2015 ...

You just know that even at that late of date, there would be a yes, JERK, out there saying "Aha! Fred's reels have finally popped up!"

So, I'm in a no win scenario, as long as I have these reels. Oh well, I'm a big boy, I can take it.

and Bill, once again I must say, that these reels (now 16 remaining) are not now, nor have ever been, Fred's reels. I've never had ANY separate reels from Fred without film, except for those GWTW reels that were damaged and thrown away, simple as that. You may believe what you wish.

Osi,

Let me firstly just say I'm not assuming that these reels you're selling are or were Freds.

However, I must ask, what happened to all the other reels on which you received film (other than GWTW) from Fred? He specified that he never sent you film on anything other than reels (mostly, if not all, Elmo reels). But you sold a lot of those films "cored".
So you mentioned that two reels were damaged in the GWTW delivery. What happened to all the rest?

Each and every film/feature that I sold for Fred, was sold on the very reels that he sent them on. Every film that was sold without reels, were from other people. I believe I stated it before, but, with all the people (the number of people) that I was selling for, there were some features that were repeats, (Fred owned them as well as the other folks that I sold for and in some cases, still sell for).

I largely sold Fred's films off of ebay, except in the case of a high price item that I would never get a price that Fred wanted, from a private seller.

I like you all but lets face it, most of us do not want to pay what we would as a general rule, pay for a major dollar item. For instance, how often have you seen anyone selling a STAR WARS print for 1,000.00 on here? Quite rare, which is why for the big dollar items, the smart seller goes to ebay ect. Hence, Fred's GWTW print going on ebay. I believe that was the only print of Fred's that I sold on ebay. The rest went to private sales off of ebay.

Thanks.

So, just to be clear, you're pretty certain that of the many "cored" films you sold on ebay, only GWTW was Fred's?

Osi...I am pretty sure Bill was simply stating that GWTW could get back on elmo reels in general, cuz he is a pretty nice guy and I don't believe was trying to start anything....

But more importantly if you're selling prints off ebay/forum do you send out regular sales lists? cuz I'd like to get them [Smile]

I'll stick up for Osi here on the price $40 is about £24. The original ELMO spools are one of the best made, the cost new would be £10 maybe back in the 70's. If they were still available now they would be well in excess of Osi's used price.

Last year two were sold on e-bay I think the went for £80 ish.

(;I wonder if this thread is the reel thing and getting to the core of the problem. [Big Grin]
