Grant. The Flying Mouse is such a lovely animation from 1934 and a personal favourite of mine. It’s all done to the song ‘I would like to be a bird’ with a clear message within the film and quite a long film as well. If you are hunting them put this near the top of your list as it is quite beautiful to watch. Grasshopper & the Ants is another superb one to look for and will have your feet tapping. [Cool]

Lee I was actually very interested in getting that one. I looked for it yesterday on google just to see if there was a print, I am glad there is.

Goodmorning Lee,

Silly Symphonies are Fantastic master pieces, I love "The old Mill", "Music Land", "Flowers and Trees", "Skeleton dance" and almost all of them from the serie.
I confirm Derann prints for the shorts Disney are generally excellent.

Kind Regards

Phil

The flying mouse in an interesting and groundbreaking film in some ways. For instance, Disney had his artists paint the backgrounds for each sequence to represent, chronologically, morning until evening, which was pretty much unheard of on film, whether animation or live action.

A number of Silly Symphonies were sold under the Movieola title prior and during the Disney Derann deal. Quality was virtually identical.

I would assume any of these are quite hard to find. They probably stay in collectors hands, and go for higher prices when they are offered for sale.

Two silly symphonies have been released in Super 8 colour and sound by Film-Office (France) at the end of the sixties:
- The Coutry Cousin (Le Rat des Champs)
- The Moth and the Flame (La Flamme et le Papillon)
Both are great little films and though my prints are now on the brown side they are still highly enjoyable...
