I inherited a Eumig Mark 501 that hadn't seen daylight in over 20 years. Everything seems to work except the mechanism on the upper spindle arm. It barely turns, and not enough to advance the film. It seems gummed up. I took it apart to the extent that I could, but am not sure how to best clean and lubricate it.
Any advice is appreciated!

Hello Daniel,

you need special tools to disassemble the axle from the arm so the best you can do is using a thin oil, put it on the axle and turn it until it starts moving. then use some ball bearing grease to lubricate the chain in the arm and you schould be fine. beware that if the front spool axle is gummed up you might experience the same problem on the take up side. probably to little torque to take the film up. the torsion coupling must then be adjusted. when it starts pulling the film trough with a loud click and the film moves when it should be standing stil you overtightened it. i allways adjust it while running a film. so you know exactly when it has enouhg torsion
