For the first time ever, we'll be screening a feature the night before the CineSea Film Collectors gathering. This screening will take place on Friday, April 24th (time to be determined) at the Ocean Holiday Resort in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. Admission is free.

Let's pick the film! If you're coming to the convention and have a print you'd like to show please list the title (up to two per collector) and format here by 4/17. I'll then create an online survey and attendees can pick which title they prefer by 4/22.

I'll offer two up from my collection: The rare scope Super 8 feature print of Close Encounters of the Third Kind or The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (Super 8mm, flat)

Who's next?

Doug

I'm going to bring my only Super 8 film, the Derann print of Gone With the Wind- Reel 1. I want to check it out, and if you are interested in showing it (as part of the viewings either night, it's available. Not sure how many people that attend have the Derann release, and some may want to see how it looks.

I'd love to see your reel of "Gone With-", Jack.

There's a pretty decent chance our Friday Night Feature will be the best show in Wildwood that night: the rest of the town looks to be very off-season!

As a dad who just got his daughter into her teen years, I do hope we don't show Toy Story or one of those type films....which I was forced to watch millions of times at home with my young daughter. ha ha...but if that's the majority...then ..cool.
Am curious about Close Encounters..haven't seen it as a feature since the opening day of it many years ago.

Even as the owner of that print I get where you are coming from, Gary!

I got all the way up to the year 2004 without seeing "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" even once!

-then I got a kid (I think you know him?) and a minivan with a video system and heard the soundtrack almost continuously for roughly 15,000 Miles!

(-even Dick van Dyke started to become...irritating!)

Seriously: Toy Story is a great print, and I really enjoy it (-you would hope so!), but I'd be more inclined to "Close Encounters" myself in this case.

I'm bringing my (improved) audio system down: I'd like to see how that film and my sound get along!

Don't like ENCOUNTERS (my own stupid opinion), most anything else to everyone's pleasure (except TOY STORY) - I have several films I'd enjoy watching - If it was up to me, it'd be shorts 24/7 - GWTW, by all means, SINDBAD, a natural (anything HarryHausen), Western, Comedy, Trailers, Serials, why...I might actually watch a Castle Travelogue (cheek-in-tongue) - BTW and FYI, this is Shorty typing again

With Jack's blessing GWTW would be nice.

(Unknown print at present, of course)

EDIT: GWTW is 4 hours long!

Would we be seeing this feature with changeovers or are we having mini-intermissions between reels?

Welcome to the 8mm Forum, Gary!

-too many good choices....

I have a really crappy print of "The Yellow Rose of Texas" (-watched it once)

-can I throw this one out there so we have one to eliminate?

I can bring the whole print with me if you want of GWTW, and we can unwrap the [packages of their cellophane together. It's never been out of the box. I will gladly bring it if you all want to invest the time. Personally, I think we should show several different titles, and GWTW is going to eat up a lot of time. Again, I will bring the whole film if you want me to.

Slowly...as we unravel the ancient papers of long-ago,,,careful with the lid of that box...oh...how lovely to hear the sound of riffling paper and unravelled reels as they emerge from the depths of whence we all begin (waking up)...Sure, reel 1 of GWTW is fine, man what a dream...I'll always be hungry again!

I'd like to say "Frankly I don't give a damn!"

-but actually I do!

Jack, is this on 400 foot reels or 600? Generally 20 minutes is the maximum for Saturday night.

Whenever it shows, I'd like to be there.

Its on 400 foot reels. I'll bring the whole feature, and we can decide what you want to see. Shorty, the only package unwrapped is the first reel. I opened that one to at least look at the color! Still no projector!

400 feet is eligible for either night.

-great coming out for what could be an awesome print!

Yes it is Roy Rogers, but trust me: Roy's Fried Chicken at the Garden State Parkway Rest Stops is much more appetizing than this 'un!

-as I remember it, the frame line is kind of...mobile. You're laying on the couch enjoying the show, and all of a sudden Roy's hat is poking up through the bottom of the screen!

(Where's the "vertical hold"?!!)

Birthday greetings....also. Not sure I'd be up for almost three hours of Gone with the Wind....and , of course, we don't know for sure if your print, Jack, is good...and if the sound is good on it. But would love to see one reel...or part of one reel. Not the film, just the reel..... just kidding.
I believe you said you had eye-balled it and it hadn't gone "scarlett". That's something. See you in one week...sending private email shortly.

Jack,

You are 351 days older than me!

As part of my Birthday present, my wife said I should buy any film I want at CineSea! (This could be dangerous!)

I think the opening reel of Gone With the Wind would be great for Saturday Night.

This weekend I'm going to round up all the stuff to bring. Based on prior photographic experiences and the end results on this forum, I'm getting a haircut too!

One week from today!
