For the curious and the shooters amongst us, feast your eyes on this HiDef transfer of Kodak 50D film shot on the Logmar Super-8 camera. The Logmar (made in Denmark) is a project to advance Super-8 quality as far as possible, and I'd say they have succeeded :-)
Make sure you click on the "1080" setting down in the corner of the YouTube player to get the full impact.

If only we could have had this quality in the 80es, who knows how far the format could have gone.....not that it vanished, but this could have opened up more research and use of the format in independent production.

Its certainly amazing quality, the chap that shot the film does talk a bit about how he did it on the "Super 8" Facebook Page. [Smile]

I don't mean to be a critic, but are you sure that this is actual super 8? If it is, I've never seen the likes of that sharp of an image! Good heavens, it makes 16MM look just awful. You could actually shoot a feature film on that.

I mean, I know Kodak Vision film stock is very good with exceptional color, but if results like that are actually achieveable, I'm going to seriously think about this, (filming my own feature projects.

Could someone give me the "specs" on this camera that was used?

From the movement of the sprocket holes shown with respect to the steady image it looks like a lot of post scanning stabilization has been applied.

Amazing stuff...by the way for the filmmaker in you the Super8 Facebook page is full of great ideas from around the world. One chap gave me a bit of sound advice on shooting Scope on 8mm using a 35mm scope lens. I was impressed with his results that I am going to do the same mod on my Canon 512 and film with the last roll of 64T. The world of the internet
[Roll Eyes] great stuff [Cool]

That is truly amazing footage but I have to say...is it me or is some of the charm gone? The fuzziness of Super 8 footage is kind of what I like! It must be just me.... [Eek!]
Its so clean it almost doesn't look like film.
But it is truly beautiful footage! I wonder what Reversal film looks like using this camera?

Film continues to advance despite the move by many to digital. The new Vision 3 stock is the exact same film all the Hollywood Movie Studios use. Film Forever (filmforevermpe.com) carries the entire Kodak line of motion picture film in both Super 8mm and 16mm.
