I agree, Edwin's company is providing an invaluable service to all us film collectors. These motor bearings on the Eumig will crack or disintegrate after 30 or so years, and the new part with the bronze bushing, to distribute the load stresses, looks superb. Now, are all us Eumig owners asking too much for Edwin to produce new drive discs for these machines, with new Butyl rubber surfaces? That, combined with the new motor inserts, would give the Eumig's a whole new life.

I just looked at one of my Eumig 800's and I agree with Edwin that there does not seem to be an easy way to retrofit the drive discs, mainly because it looks like they are a press fit to the drive shaft. And even if they could be removed, replacing them with a 3D plastic disc (with a bonded rubber surface) may not be successful because of the load exerted by the drive ball. It could be successful if the plastic disc could be made a lot thicker than the existing metal disc. This is possible on the rear disc, but there is not much room on the front disc to do that. Best bet for Eumig's with slipping drives right now is one of the 'surface renewal' methods discussed on this forum. My latest effort, using a wipe with automobile belt renewal fluid, seems to be holding up well...........so far
