Has anyone seen a copy of the latest CHC magazine? I heard a rumour that a page has been put in ref a film dealer that was done for fraud, can anyone shed any light on this?

I think that's quite odd then, surely there must be more interesting articles to publish, I'm glad I don't buy it now, Also why now, is it that Paul is a threat now he's about to be released or is released? ? Maybe I should write an article for the next issue, it's about a dealer that is so rude to his customers that it's amazing he has any, takes payments out that are not authorised and you don't know that until the films arrive that another receipt is enclosed (I'm sure that's illegal) preyed on vulnerable people and ripped them off with their collections,I could go on but it really isn't interesting reading either, it would be wrong to publish such tat (I guess I've published it here?) but some people seem to have no morals about certain things, rightly or wrongly Paul has served his time so I don't see why it would be in print again or mocked, Mark

It wasn't an article as such in 'Film Collector' as it was text reproduced from a "Staffordshire newspaper." I wouldn't personally have included it but I won't say more as this matter got very heated when it was first discussed here.

Hi Adrian,
I don't think it would have been done if Paul was responsible for the magazine, my point is that a certain someone isn't whiter than white and when you hear such tripe and have been turned over yourself, I know many collectors who have been upset by his antics and my buttons have been well and trully pushed on this, Mark.

Reprinting the article is petty, small and vindictive obviously time has not changed the person I encountered. One of the reasons why I downsized from film was the thoughts of having pay good money for headaches and disappointments NO THANKS. Remembering his hypersensitivity to any form of criticism expect a giant strop.

I was`t sure whether to reply to this so it goes away sooner, but I do remember feeling great concern and sympathy for Paul at the time on a human level.

I think printing this in a cine magazine was misjudged really and a much better and interesting proper article would have served much better.

The magazine is good for the hobby, but its better to focus on the possitive, interesting and good things about it we all enjoy.

I hope to goodness Paul did not see it, he will have had quite enough to deal with, and perhaps we should let this go very quickly in to the background.

Best Mark.

To me (from what was in earlier threads about the mag. and its contents) it sounds as if they were very short of articles for the magazine and if there had been more this wouldn't have been used.

I think it's more if a case of some people just can't help themselves Brian. I've had quite a few private emails now about the article from collectors (who want to be anonymous ) they all agree how petty this was to reprint and send out and said surely something more interesting could have taken the page.

I did have 4 pages of collectors Q & As,(different to the ones i put in FFTC many years ago), but unfortunately it didnt quite make the deadline, it would have been a better read. [Frown]
I understand its going into the next one & i'm still jumping on collectors as i type here. Just hope there still readers left to look at it after this. [Frown]

I cannot imagine there can be anyone out there who thought the inclusion of this now somewhat dated article, would make for interesting reading in this film enthusiasts magazine.

Just like our tabloid newspapers, it may sell one or two extra copies at the time simply because scandal and other peoples misery, all too sadly in our society, sells.

The long term effects and consequences to a niche magazine such as this nowadays may however be grave, many may choose not purchase ever again after something like this, and I for one, certainly do not think it was the publishers (whoever combined they may be?), had their finest hour here.

Are we talking about a national magazine or the FFTC that Phil controls edits and publishes. He takes credit for everything let him take the blame and less of this nonsense that it is a group effort or a case of miscommunication.

Wish it still was FFTC magazine Mike. Derann's magazine right up until all but the very last editions, was always a fantastic magazine and a superb read in my opinion, back in the days many of their most desirable feature releases took place.

Phil's magazine is simply called Film Collector.

I wonder if Paul is back in business now? The "Closed until May" notice is gone from his site.

Hi Kevin, if you read the threads this isn't about knocking Paul, quite the opposite in fact, Mark
