This title is known to be the last print from Ken and UFA known to be fully imported those last reels from Ken (only changed the cover).

I have this title from Ken (plain cover) and the color is washed out?

What the German members' experience on this title? any good?

what about Elvis "Viva Las Vegas" also from UFA ?

I´ve got a copy of Viva las Vegas. It´s a 3 reel version from Ufa Germany.
this copy have great color and perfect focus!

No wonder, Viva Las Vegas always ended in high price .. how much did you pay?

One of our forum member, Dan has once sold this title in original English version (released by Ken) and confirmed it has a beautiful color and sharpness. I saved his screen shot in my other computer and I can post that tomorrow.

It is on LPP stock but nothing such blue tones like some members here hate with Kodak LPP and prefer AGFA. I saw Dan's screen shots was just beautiful.

The reason why I put this this thread's title is focusing on "Cincinnati Kid", because from our previous discussion it was told that these 3 titles were the last batches of Ken Films, i.e "Vegas", Cincinnati" and "Time...". They are all 3 reelers in plain boxes.

A German member has confirmed that most of these last batches were exported to Germany because there were still more 8mm collectors in this country rather in USA land (1980s). It can be seen from the blue reels used by those 3 titles sold in Germany.

The different was the German versions were boxed in UFA style box.

But I have the "Cincinnati" which unfortunately has faded to pink. That's why I am thinking to buy from German and re-dub with my English version.

What make me curios that "Cincinnati" always ended in very low price (sometime I saw less than 10 Euro). So I suspicious that this title in Germany does also suffer from fading as I have.

So I need a confirmation from German members about this title, is it reddish or good?

There should be quite a few prints of the 3 x 400' of 'Viva Las Vega' on LPP or Agfa low fade because it has remained in Derann's catalogue right up to the present day. It must have been one of thge negatives they obtained from Ken, when Ken shut down.

I have a UFA-print of VLV and it has beautiful colours.

The problem with UFA-prints is, that they mostly turned to red. A lot of my (used) bought UFA's have been a little up to totally red. Others have beautiful colours yet (Quo vadis, Dr. Zhivago Convoy, Viva Las Vegas etc.) . But I did not identify the used stock. Must do this...
You must ask the seller of the copy about the colours.

Some of UFA releases are on AGFA so they will not turn red.

Michael, asking the seller about the colour always turn up to a dispute when the film arrived because most of them are not film collectors who know the meaning of fading.

So I feel more secure to ask here.

Anyobody here can give a "Yes" or "No" clue regarding the "Cincinnati Kid" UFA quality please?

Hi,

http://www.super-8-hobby.de/rezent217.htm states that his copy has great colours (or at least had in 2003).

However I'm not sure how this info might help - as it doesn't matter whether 100% or 90% or 80% of all those prints do have problems with fading or reddish colours. If the print is sold on ebay with a starting bid of 1 EUR / 1 US$ / ... , you can be 100% sure that the film isn't in a "collect-worthy" shape.

then it's your turn to explain it to them [Big Grin]

But I think Joerg is right. If somebody says "yes" that doesn't mean, that all or most of the prints are good.

I use the UFA-print of "The Wild Geese" for an example: My copy is good, has good colours and a nice sound. But most of the prints of this title sold by Ebay were reddish and I got this information only when I asked the seller!

Hi Winbert, The reason why your 3x400' version of The Time Machine came in home made box covers and not MGM covers was because on MGM's last three super 8 releases, the Time Machine,Cincinnati kid and Viva las Vegas MGM did not, produce covers for them they were issued in MGM's black plastic boxes but since these were their last super 8 product they did not go to the expense of designing and printing labels for them.AS I have said they were in MGM's plastic cases but only had plain white paper inserts with a small black MGM logo printed on them, and the film title in small black letters.
