Having recently purchased a Sankyo 800 projector on eBay I was looking at You Tube posts of fellow owners. One in particular caught my attention as he was running a reel of John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13. The Forum Question is...Who released this reel and was it only a digest?...I would be interested to know if the full feature is out there somewhere.

Hey Burton. I'm not sure about the feature, but I believe the 600' digest was originally released by PM films, and then it seems the same source edit was re-released by Derann. I hope someone will correct me if i'mwrong.

Full feature is avaliable for the spanish market by a limited edition with no cuts.

Both releases of the 600ft version were 3:4 not the original Panavision.

Ah, that is a blow Brian. It's one of the few titles I've never owned but I understand that the editing is exceptional.

However, given John Carpenters's use of 2.35:1, with the brilliance of DP Douglas Knapp, I can't see myself enjoying a pan & scan...

Released only as a flat 600 version by pm films then,as said, re released by derann.

I would like to see both the original P.M. Films release and the Derann side by side. They should look about the same image wise.

Well, the PM print of "Watership Down" had good solid blacks, but the Derann was lighter but much sharper...

Interesting and varying results from the labs...

The PM is now fading, whereas the Derann isn't.

Also, this was one of the first stereo soundtracks from PM.

Sadly, it cost them a lot of money and wasn't great; distortion on track 2.

But back to AOP13...
