Hey there, Team! So in repairing an Eumig P8 Wien, I was able to service a few items and it's running kinda sorta...! I do need a main belt, but I'm wondering about this "spring" type metal? belt. I can't yet tell if it will work when I replace the other belt, but in general, it looks old of course, dusty, dry, not loose but not taut, so... is there some spring-belt maintenance you know of? Oil it? Wash it lol... pray for it? Degrease it... who knows but appreciate anyone's expertise with these.
Also, let me know the correct term so I'm not saying "spring belt" any longer than I need to heehee
thanks!

I guess the best advice is just to keep them clean: these depend on friction to operate correctly, so any kind of lubricant, intentional or not won't help.

"Spring Belt" is the correct term. The internet can't process it though: You Google "Spring Belts" you will also get "Spring Shoes", "Spring Fashions" and "Spring Hairstyles"!

The main drive belt from the motor is rubber.
I always fitted rubber rings used with Kilner preserving jars. However, the modern ones may not be suitable as they have a lip, whereas in the 60s they were round.

A correctly sized Butyl rubber or Ethylene Propylene O-ring should work fine, Just measure up the old Eumig belt and find the correct o-ring size and distributor from the Parker Hannifin online catalogue.
