I got this splicer with lots of tape free with a super 8mm projector.
No instructions came with it.Is it easy to use or does anyone have the instructions that I can have a copy?
Cheers,
Clinton

Hi Clinton... In doing a Google search your Hervic Taple Splicer looks similar to the Minette/Cullmann Tape Splicer. Pull up the cutting blade and see if it looks the same. Van Eck has a video on how to use that splicer which can use Presstapes applied just like the Kodak Universal Splicer.

Yep I saw that video and do have the tapes to do that, but I also have heaps of the splicing tapes made for the splicer and thought it would be nice to use those. It seems easy to use but it isn't easy without instructions [Confused]

Update ... I've had another look at the splicer in the daytime as apposed to late last night!
And worked it out finally and it is quick and really easy to do the join ... me very happy [Smile]

And I found a manual in with a different splicer ... see how it's a good idea not to throw out film stuff [Smile]
If anyone wants a copy then get in touch [Smile]

I used to use this all the time. I don't know how to explain how it works. If I had one in front of me, I could probably do it blindfolded even though it's been decades. I could shoot a demo video, too. Unfortunately, I don't have one in front of me. Sorry.

Glad you figured it out. It's easy to use but difficult to explain without a visual aid. It was always my favorite tape splice. One side of the tape is slightly shorter than the other so as not to cover the main mg stripe. Obviously, that wouldn't help if there's audio on the balance stripe.
