My Elmo is running fine except for a rhythmic clicking sound that appears to be coming from around the lens housing. It isn't a stuck counter (although that's the type of sound) and I can't see anything hitting anything front or rear. Given the cost of just having a Super 8 projector professionally looked at - and the scarcity of pro repair shops - I wondered if anyone might have an idea what/where I might check myself. Thank you!

Ok Gary, Get ready for a PRO repair!! HA Ha Here it comes.....
...stick a folded piece of paper, or post-it note between the green loop former(right at the start where the film is fed) and the front arm. I have this on one of my elmos, annoying click...moving this piece outwards ever so slight stops the noise on mine...this works and so i never have bought a new loop former from van eck yet. I think the former gets a tad warped from time and this MAY be the issue...give it a whirl and let us know please... (i can upload a pic of mine if needed...)

Matt - Could It rouble you to post a photo? I thought I knew what you meant - and I even had a post-it(!) but I have a feeling I'm not attacking the problem properly. I sure appreciate all the help! Gary

Matt - I was so optimistic as I had indeed done it wrong yesterday, but alas, no luck. Oh well, thank you for taking the time. This morning, I'm bringing a different ELMO (the one with the built-in screen/viewer) to a place about an hour from me called LEON'S ELMO PROJECTOR REPAIR which I saw advertised in the latest REEL IMAGE. I'm going to bring this ELMO along as well just in case he's willing to take a look (and not charge me the $75.00 he's charging to look at the Elmo with the larger issue - maybe a two-for-one deal). Anyway, I'll report back on both Leon and my success rate. Thanks again.

Leon at Leon's Elmo Repair was terrific. He solved the ticking sound --- it was internal but I must admit I don't know what he did - and is working on my other projector. Glad I found him, and thanks to every on the forum who addressed by issue!
