All of those films out there!

-but where did they come from?

I have a print of Lee Mannering's "Cinema in Miniature" that takes us to visit CHC and Derann, and we get to see them making prints, but then again we really don't. For example we see Derek Simmonds mixing up the paste stripe and applying it to the prints, then we see them slitting and recording the sound, but not actually start out with film stock and producing the mute prints for finishing. (If I remember right, they did show the processing machine.)

I'd like to know what the equipment was like that took in a negative and raw film stock and produced a print ready for processing.

I would assume they looked like the ones in the end of Kodrachrome DVD, just tanks of chemicals with rollers to take the film through, rather like the drying cabinets Derek used for curing the paste stripe.

What I would really like to see would be the continuous reduction printing machines used to make the prints. The names that were quoted in comments about problems were Peterson and Hollywood machines.

Yes, those are what I’m interested in too.

We hear a lot about everything else in the process, but almost nothing about how it starts.
