I use to shoot with regular 8 but most of my movies, in recent years, have been on Super 8. The new Super 8 Ektachrome reversal film from Kodak is amazing stuff! The colors and fine grain are the best I've seen in years. I shot a roll on vacation, in August, and the colors just popped under sunny conditions. Last month I shot a roll on a cloudy day, and even that looked amazing. I have found the new stock needs at least a 1/2 stop overexposure to capture the light just right. Too much underexposure, and things get too dark. But with the right lens, and correct lighting it's really fantastic stuff. Expensive yes, but well worth it, when you only shoot a few rolls a year. Projected on my Bolex 18-5L Super, with the Bolex prime lens, the Ektachrome really shines through.
Back when I was still shooting Ektachrome regular 8 my go to camera was the Bolex K2. Now that was some camera with the Kern Switar lens.
