my Brother and I have been putting our collections together now and I cant believe how many shorts and trailers etc that we both bought over the years. Im still looking for a couple of ad reels that I haven't got though.
Ironic isn't it, when I use to go pictures in the 70s/80s, after a couple of ads I use to think, "how many bloody adverts & trailers are we going to sit through", now we're paying to own them [Big Grin]

I totally agree with you Tom. I wonder if I will feel the same way about modern ad's today on ITV in years to come.

I'm always amazed by how much advert reels go for on Ebay when essentially all they are is adverts. I guess we all like the nostalgia.

your right Graham, we do have quite an extensive collection of ad reels. The only reason i bought my first one was simply because i had an episode of the Sweeney, because these all had the "end of part one" etc i just fancied putting it onto a 1200ft spools with ads of that time. i bought an ad reel for £10 and inter cut ads between the parts and i was hooked. After this reel though i kept the ads all together rather than divide them. we now have 15 ad reels and i think there all superb, great nostalgia and derann did a great job with the quality. i must admit im always surprised at what they fetch on ebay but unfortunatly this seems to be the way things are going. I guess its good to know our films can command these prices, when Derann fell i thought our collections would fast become worthless,im pleased i was wrong. [Wink]
