Osi - If you have an optical sound projector i strongly suggest finding the Japanese digest. It also comes with a cassette audio tape. The color is gorgeous - better than any print I have ever seen - even the remastered DVD. If only they put out the feature that way!
I have the Niles feature and digest and murky is a description that comes to mind. I ordered the Niles print in 1977 and I can't remember if the color was any better when it was first released.

Brian, is the digest you spoke of the 200ft digest or the 400ft digest? i have a friend in japan that has spoken of the 200ft digest, but i don't know if there is a 400ft digest, or the edit of either the 200ft digest or a japanese 400ft digest.
I do, however, have a very rare trailer for MMT that was released on super 8. Good color but slightly muddled looking.

Osi - The Japanese digest is on an odd 300' reel and thin stock - it probably runs about the length of a 400' digest. It has almost all the musical numbers a bit edited tho. Again, it's the best that film will ever look on super 8. It's worth finding.

I have owned various prints including a full feature Niles print of Magical Mystery Tour. I finally tracked down a kodachrome print on 16mm about over a year ago.
I have to say it looks much better then my Blu-ray. It really looks like it was shot yesterday no kidding. Extremely sharp print.

Stuart, I really wouldn't know. I wouldn't think it was a reduction as you probably know it was actually shot on 16mm.
One of the problems on the blu-ray release is two things (colour and detail) the lact of definition as the original negs had been blown up to make a new 35mm master a few years back when released on VHS and this is what they used. I would suspect that the colour has also been worked on. Assuming the original camera negatives would of faded some what by now.

Osi, Well it's for keeps, i did have a 16mm copy ex-rental on Agfa film stock. Not the best condition but once again the colour was the best i seen so far.
