Does anyone have a copy of the manual for this editor?
I have recently obtained it but can't seem to get a successful image on the Fresnel screen. I have cleaned the bulb and all mirrors but the image is too dark to see. I can only assume I am threading the film incorrectly although it all seems very straightforward. Any Clues anyone?

Hi john, although I have not had this model editor,i have in the past had to adjust the mirror to reflect at the correct angle to the screen, and check that someone hasn't changed the mirror for an ordinary looking glass mirror. It should have a very thin mirror because it is silvered on the front and not on the back to stop the glass absorbing the light and then refracting it in a different direction, similar to the effect you get when you put a stick in a swimming pool.

Paul,
Many thanks for the advice which was spot on. The mirrors were indeed out of alignment and a quick adjustment made the screen brighter. I have to say though, that after owning two different prinz oxford editors, they are perhaps not the brightest of machines in general. I would be interested to know which editors are recommended by forum members.

Hi John , happy to help a fellow member. On the brightness issue they all suffer a bit with this even the elmo /goko machines i have do!!!. What i do is make sue all the optics are nice and clean and mirrors are aligned.I did try a brighter xenon lamp in my goko machine but it was heating up the gate and burnt one or two frames of my L/H movies!!!, so don't be tempted to do that. Not sure whats fitted to your machine but they are sometimes the same size and fit as the old car rear lamps ( side light lamps OR stop and tail ). On a trawl through the internet i'm sure i saw an led version of this, and this would just push in ,be brighter and there would be no heat issues. The latest technology leds are flat and give a better overall and even spread of white light. When i get five i'll have another search and see if i can pickup that thread and pass it on to you.
