I have 2 super 8mm reels 1 is 800' metal and the other is 1200' plastic. These have the SQUARE holes so I can't use them on my Elmo. You can have both for 10.00 including FREE shipping in USA.

Thx

Strange one Pasquale, 8mm reels with 16mm centres. Phil Sheard has a load of these and they are really only of any use for someone who has "universal" long play arms eg: Spondon etc and intends to keep their prints forever as you could really never expect to sell a print on these nowadays and it be of any use to anyone else.

these can be used for any 8mm prints with the adaptors removed from the long play arms with any dual sprocket 8mm machine.

Hi Andrew

I figure they are just about useless. I actually bought a film and this is what they came on so I bought 2 reels and changed the film over. I may just hang them on the wall for decoration.
Or I might bore the holes out to a round shape and see how that works.

Cheers!

Have a go at modifying the hub to a standard super 8mm bore and filing the slots in them if you can be bothered Pasquale. At least then, they are useful to all! Be warned though, the nasty Grasso / Taylor reel steel hub inserts are made of very hard steel and do not modify easily. You should however have greater success on the 800ft reel as these are made entirely of steel and come apart via the rivets.

After seeing this I value all my Elmo 1200ft spools and Beaulieu (Posso) 2300ft spools that little bit more. I've seen people actually make spools out of plywood rather than spend on the professional version! Why would you put a decent film on a spool made of wood that splinters???

I gotta say, even though, I for one, could actually use these, I would never send a film out to somebody else on these. It's a real Tw**s trick nowadays!!....25 years ago maybe, but not now. [Confused] [Confused]

I could really use a couple of these in 15" 2000' or 2300' configuration but haven't found anyone trying to get rid of any. These smaller sizes aren't as helpful.

I remember that Dino uses these reels with his long play unit.
